  • A Young man was arrested in Nasarawa for killing a friend and stealing his Bike

    Ezra Wadata, 23, was arrested by Nasarawa State Police Command agents for reportedly stabbing to death his friend Moses Maidoki and stealing his motorcycle.

    On Friday, May 19, 2023, in an interview with Daily Trust in Lafia, the state capital, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest.

    Nansel claims that the suspect, who was residing in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja with his deceased buddy, Moses, committed the crime as a result of an argument that developed between them.

    “However, after two weeks of settling the dispute, Ezra killed Moses and then stole his motorcycle, locking the body inside the house. After a few days, the neighbors in the neighborhood grew uneasy about the scent emanating from Ezra and Moses’ home. As a result, they went to the police in Kubwa, Abuja, and that is how they learned that Moses had been killed.

    “On noticing that the police were after him, the suspect quickly sold the motorcycle in Abuja and ran to his village called Ninga, in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where he was arrested by police officers in the state,” Nansel said.

    After killing Moses with a knife in the Kubwa neighborhood of Abuja, Ezra Wadata fled to his hometown in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. According to the PPRO, the suspect has admitted to the crime, and the inquiry has started as ordered by Maiyaki Baba, the commissioner of police.

    On May 18, 2023, Donald Toby, the victim’s younger brother, posted on Facebook to confirm the occurrence.


    Donald claimed that his brother had been shot dead on Tuesday, and that the attackers had fled after taking the victim’s car and other possessions.
    He shared images of the deceased’s car and urged anyone with knowledge to get in touch. He also urged the security services to find the murderers and bring them before the courts.


    In response to the murder, Enefaa Georgewill, the chairman of the Rivers State Civil Society Organization, encouraged all pertinent regulators in the nation to make sure that Bolt/Taxi Drivers their customers are protected during all rides.

    “Customers’ verification could simply be a bank account number verification from the customers. We are simply saying every Bolt, Uber and other ride-hailing accounts should have at least one bank account of the customer linked to it.

    “Finally, we call on all road transport regulators to ensure that compliance with safety regulations is strictly adhered to. The safety of drivers is equally important as the safety of customers.”

    According to Henry Mamothame, a spokesman for the National Prosecutions Authority, Sepale hired a private counsel to represent him in the case.

    He claims that the authorities will fight any bail request.

    After a stand-up comedian last week made fun of the People’s Liberation Army, a Chinese entertainment group received a severe financial fine and had its shows in the capital suspended.
    The Beijing City Cultural and Tourism Regulator ordered Shanghai Xiaoguo Culture Media to forfeit 1.3 million yuan ($186,000) in earnings from performances in the capital and fined the company 13 million yuan (US$1.9 million), the regulator stated in a notification released on Wednesday.
