Renowned football sensation Neymar has finalized his £78 million transfer to Al-Hilal, a Saudi Pro League team.
Neymar bid farewell to PSG following the formalization of a two-year contract with the PIF-backed club, an agreement speculated to be valued at £130 million per annum.
In a significant move, he becomes the most prominent figure in the football world to relocate to the prosperous oil-rich nation since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from England.
Notably, Neymar turned down the option of a loan transfer to his previous club, Barcelona, which would have included a potential full acquisition next year.
In a heartfelt video shared across the Saudi club’s social media platforms, Neymar is seen addressing the team’s fans, proclaiming, “I am now in Saudi Arabia.”
Reflecting on Neymar’s departure, PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi expressed, “Saying farewell to a club legend like Neymar is undeniably challenging. His legacy at PSG will endure forever.”
Al-Khelaïfi continued, “The memory of his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain and the immeasurable contributions he made to our club and project over the past six years remain indelible. We’ve shared extraordinary moments, and Neymar will forever hold a place in our history.”
He concluded by conveying gratitude to Neymar and his family, while wishing the Brazilian superstar the utmost success in his forthcoming endeavors.
Neymar’s association with PSG began in 2017 when he joined from Barcelona in a record-breaking £198 million transaction.
Across his PSG journey, Neymar impressively netted 118 goals in 173 appearances. His remarkable achievements include clinching five Ligue 1 titles and securing three Coupe de France trophies.
