Fuel Subsidy: Nyesom Wike Expresses Delight in President Bola Tinubu’s Leadership

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, expressed his profound happiness and satisfaction with the election of President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Tuesday, June 6, he praised Tinubu’s decisive action regarding the fuel subsidy issue, emphasizing that it showcased his remarkable leadership skills.

Wike began by emphasizing the significance of the initial steps taken by a leader, as they often serve as indicators of their competence and capability. In this regard, he commended Tinubu for demonstrating strong leadership right from the first day he assumed office and took the presidential oath. Wike believed that the ability to make difficult decisions like the removal of the fuel subsidy was a testament to Tinubu’s preparedness for the job at hand.

Expressing his admiration, Wike rhetorically asked how many other presidents would have had the courage to make such a bold decision. He saw Tinubu’s action as a display of exceptional leadership, emphasizing that it was a decision that needed to be taken despite its inherent difficulty. Wike further emphasized his happiness, remarking that it confirmed the absence of any mistake in electing Tinubu as the president.

The governor went on to assert that this kind of leadership is precisely what the country needs. He urged Nigerians to give Tinubu a chance, underlining the importance of supporting a leader who demonstrates the capacity to make tough decisions. In Wike’s estimation, Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy deserved the highest rating in terms of leadership acumen, earning an “A” grade.

Wike’s remarks on the fuel subsidy issue not only demonstrated his satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s leadership but also conveyed his conviction that Tinubu’s decision-making ability was a key factor in ensuring a prosperous future for Nigeria.
