Tinubu swears in George Akume as SGF
George Akume, a former governor of Benue State, took the oath of office as secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) on June 7.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor of Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Folashade Yemi-Esan, head of the federation’s civil service, were all present at the brief ceremony, which was held at the council chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja at around 11:16 a.m. There were other former governors present as well.
From 1999 until 2007, Akume served as governor of Benue state, during Tinubu’s term in office as mayor of Lagos. In addition, he held the position of minority senate leader from June 2011 until June 2015.
