Romance Scam: Nigeria partners Australian Police to arrest serial fraudster in Abuja

In a joint effort, the Nigerian Police Force collaborates with the Australian Police to apprehend a serial fraudster operating in Abuja, Nigeria. This individual had been involved in multiple romance scams, deceiving unsuspecting victims for personal gain.

The Nigeria Police Force – National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) successfully apprehended Ogenevowero Emefeke, a 37-year-old individual residing in the Guida Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Emefeke was responsible for orchestrating an intricate fraudulent scheme targeting an Australian citizen.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest in a statement released on Monday, May 22, 2023. This significant achievement was made possible due to actionable intelligence provided by the South Australian Police Department (SAPOL).

Adejobi further disclosed that the authorities managed to recover a total of sixty thousand Australian Dollars (60,000.00 AUD) from the suspect.
