Wike Hails Tinubu For Suspending Emefiele As CBN Governor
Governor Nyesom Wike, former leader of Rivers State, has expressed his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s recent suspension of Godwin Emefiele from his position as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Late on Friday, Tinubu made the decision to suspend Emefiele and instructed him to immediately hand over his responsibilities to Folashodun Shonubi, the Deputy Governor in charge of the Operations Directorate at the bank.
Wike, who had previously criticized Emefiele’s policies, particularly the redesign of the Naira, commended the President for his bold and timely decision. In a statement released by his media team, Wike also praised President Tinubu for his approval of uniform retirement age and pension for judicial officers across the country. He believes that this action by the President will bring new vitality to the nation’s judiciary.
Wike emphasized that he and other members of the G5 are impressed by the President’s focused and exemplary leadership, which they believe will guide the country towards prosperity.
